Twenty years ago Wilderness Safaris’ prime goal was to search for areas of wild, pristine, untouched Africa in which to privately host our guests. This is still a core philosophy at Wilderness today. Through a combination of partnerships, purchases and leases we have built our portfolio of camps and game reserves, and today have the rare privilege of private access to about two and a half-million acres of Southern Africa’s finest wildlife and wilderness reserves. One of the largest private reserves we work in is over 600,000 acres and accommodates only 12 guests! Our camps are small by design, with between three and twelve rooms each. These very special camps and lodges provide comfort and luxury and fit perfectly in their surroundings. In camp our staff are determined to ensure that our guests have a moving and unforgettable experience. Guides, whose wealth of knowledge, warmth of spirit and passion for the African experience lead our safaris.

In January 2003, Wilderness Safaris won National Geographic Traveler and Conservation International’s coveted World Legacy Award, for Nature Travel. This unique award is the “Oscars” of the eco-tourism and conservation industry. The award bestowed international recognition on Wilderness Safaris as the leading nature travel company in the world for protecting and nurturing our planet’s precious natural and cultural resources
